~L301-18: Lila Lee & Darrell Foss~
|
On her seventeenth birthday, country girl Rose Wiley (Lila Lee) becomes engaged to lumberman
Steve Waterman (Darrell Foss), but she is deceived by Claude Merrill (George Fisher), a slick man
from Boston, into believing that his hopeless love for her is destroying him. Wishing to spare him
misery, Rose secretly meets Claude one night before he returns to Boston. Steve learns of the
meeting and breaks off the engagement afterward. Serving as a nurse to Claude's invalid aunt (Ann
Brooks), Rose goes to Boston and sees Claude, who is a glove clerk and involved with an older
woman. Disillusioned, Rose returns to the country, and with the help of a plan engineered by her
grandfather (Robert Brower), she is reunited with Steve.
